Steve Phillips
Phillips, Steve Stephen Clifton Phillips, born to A.C. & Daphne Phillips on December 11, 1952 and passed away February 2, 2010. Born in Oak Cliff (Dallas), Texas, he graduated from Kimball High School. He went on to graduate from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas with a bachelor's of science degree in business. He served in the Air National Guard & began his lifelong career in the lumber business- initially with his father. He went on to become owner & President of Phillips Lumber Co., Inc. Active in Scouting, he mentored Boy Scouts in Troop 520 for 18 years and helped countless young men in their journey to become Eagle Scouts. He enjoyed cooking on campouts & won numerous awards for cobblers & chilis. He loved to use his smoker to supply friends & family with his famous meatloaf, ribs & other specialties. He loved traveling to Creede, Colorado with his family. Active in the development of Cedar Hill, he served as city councilman, Mayor pro tem & sat on the Main Street Committee. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Robin; his three children, Jason, Cheryl & Christopher; his brother, Don & wife, Karen; nieces & nephews, Kathy & husband, Garrett Goen, Brian & Lisa Phillips & great-niece, Ryan. A member & deacon of the Church of Christ, Steve was a devoted Christian who has now joined his father above. Funeral Service is 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Cedar Hill Church of Christ, 535 S. Clark Road. Burial will follow at Little Bethel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-9 PM, Friday at Jaynes Memorial Chapel in Duncanville.
