I definitely remember DeSalvo's. The thing I remember most was that the owner had a son who was a "little person". He could usually be seen sitting in one of the booths smoking a big cigar. I was always facinated by that since he was about the size of a small kid. Funny how we remember things like that.

Anyone remember the ill-fated "Pizza On Wheels"? They had mobile kitchens set up in vans and would come to your home and cook the pizza right on the spot. I guess that trying to operate cooking and refrigeration equipment in a van was just not feasible and they quickly disappeared.

Yeah, I was there at the movie night, Jerry. And I agree that the burgers were mediocre and very overpriced. I actually haven't eaten there since. I'll take a Whataburger over Goff's any day of the week! But I think the best burger that I ever put in my mouth was at the old Adair's on Cedar Springs. But that was back in the day when they would actually serve your burger medium-rare without fear of salmonella or E. coli poisoning. I remember eating bites of raw burger meat at home back then and thinking nothing of it. Sort of like poor man's steak tartare.

Now, we have to sterilize and sanitize and glove-up and overcook everything to make sure we don't contaminate everything or catch something awful. And we don't dare eat a raw egg! Such a shame!
